Hands update!

Just reporting some more progress on the hands... started fiddling around, extruding, cutting, merging, etc and so far I think it's shaping up! Again, no where NEAR the finished vision... but a step in a direction...

Is it the right direction? That remains to be seen my friends... Stay tuned. :)

Frustrations, Frustrations, Frustrations...

Well, before I start to model something in 3d, I like to have an idea of HOW I'm going to do it. I like to create a visual representation in my mind prior to sitting down in front of my monitor. I HAVE some ideas on how to create the hands... but I'm still having a bit of trouble coming up with the approach. I spent some extra time recently trying to flesh out my method. Today, I just have the beginnings of that approach. I'll give you a quick sneak peek :). It's not much so don't judge...just yet. Knowing me, I'll probably have a version of the hand completed tonight, then I'll scrap it because I'm not satisfied :P. Regardless, it's a hurdle I WILL overcome (thanks to my stubborn / determined nature). Hopefully I can get the hand done the way I see it by the end of the weekend. So, without further ado...

TADA!

Welcome...

To the first post! :P

You'll be following my attempts at 3d art. My weapon of choice? Blender. It's free, open-source and all kinds of AWESOME! I've always been fascinated and astounded by the stuff 3d modeling programs could produce. So after some (read: MANY) failed attempts at 3d art something finally clicked! Now I feel very confident that I can take it to the next level and actually produce some good work. I suppose only time will tell. You, YES YOU, will be the one that bear's witness to the triumphs, frustrations and failures that are to follow. I hope you enjoy the ride. :)

Let's start things off with what I have so far!

Backstory:

As a child, there was nothing I wanted more than to get home from school to catch the afternoon cartoons. One of my favorite shows at the time was an anime called "Robotech" (officially known as "Macross" I believe). I thought the idea of a pilotable jet that can transform into a humanoid robot was AMAZING. :) Come on, don't look at me like that...

I actually had one to the toys still laying around and figured it would be a GREAT starting point for my first complete model.

So the journey begins... Below you'll find the shots you've been waiting for :P
